APPEARANCE NOTES
Just so I can keep tags consistent with regard to stuff the icons don't cover/I haven't edited in yet.
The general gist of her is she's a weird lion/snake/goat/owl mashup, with the "snake" ending up more like "dinosaur" in practice. The owl bits are specifically based off of the African scops owl.
All of her fluff is feathers, which are patterned like an owl's but lighter; the skin underneath is dark, so the spots where she has less fuzz (face and paws) are a much darker brown. Siamese owl.
Eyes: She's got cross shaped pupils! Combo of vertical slit pupils and goat horizontal bar pupils.
Ears: are mostly eartufts, but do have an actual ear as a base. Like how horses do actually have a little tail under all the flowing locks of hair.
Front paws: look like big ol' lion paws, but rather than just a dewclaw she's got a proper (if stubby) thumb. The down is mostly on top of her feet; the undersides are bare and scaled a little like snakeskin. (Including her toebeans! Which she does have.)
Hind feet: more bird of prey than lion, but the nails are much thicker; kind of hoof-like.
Tail: More snake than lizard in terms of flexibility; there are layers of flight feathers going down it that can spread like a bird's tail for flight.
Mouth: HORRORMOUTH, barn owl style. Her face fluff keeps it mostly invisible, but it goes pretty far back; since her face is sort of goaty she looks like one of those "horse with dog mouth" meme photoshop edits if she opens wide enough. Lots of needle teeth, long tongue that is deeply forked enough to make it look like she's got two at first glance. She tries to keep her mouth closed in polite company for all of the above reasons ha ha yikes!
Clothing: yes she wears things! The ribbon around her neck is a permanent staple, but she also wears a variety of very drapey garments shaped like really fancy horse blankets with openings for her wings. This is 75% because she has to participate in court fashion somehow and 25% for modesty. Yes, she could walk around with her tail kept low and nobody would see anything, but that feels a lot like walking around in a skirt with no underwear? What if she did not do that, thank you.
